Weekend Roles & Responsibilities

Service Lead Role:  Extreme Ownership of Service (Includes Hospitality and Pastoral Support Communication Below) 

This role has a lot of responsibility.  You are the “extreme ownership” person and primary leader here; however, a lot of these roles can be volunteered out or coverage helped with the “service availability” team below. 

  • People in Places/Volunteers Covered 
  • Tapping or notifying leads of these departments of any issues  
  • Front line for any service problems (security; things breaking; etc.) 
  • Count Service (and put in PCO) 
  • Walk around; check in with volunteers/leads; anticipate > react to issues 
  • Hospitality:  People are coming over, everything is in order, neat and operational 
  • Church looks good (no sloppiness) 
  • Floors cleaned; things are in order and in place 
  • Temp and sound are appropriate levels 
  • Creating a welcoming atmosphere 
  • Greeters, coffee/kitchen, café checked in and operating with excellence 
  • Water, coffee, creamers, etc. – fully stocked before each service. 
  • Garbage, communion cups, coffee cups picked up after each service (chairs straight) 
  • Pastoral Support and Communication:  The value of no surprises.   Taylor (or preaching pastor) and Sound Booth are well informed of service structure, out of the norm changes (baby dedication, membership commissioning, etc.) or reminded of important announcements needing to be made in advance.   

 

Service Support: Easily Found; Back-Up to Service Lead 

  • Help put out fires (if needed) 
  • Helps keep “drama” behind the scenes 
  • Available to fill-in and assist service lead as needed/requested. 

Discipleship Path:   

  • Classes (Weekend): 
  • Baptism 
  • New to New Song 
  • Help Intentionally move people down the path

Memorial/Funeral Requests

Memorial/Funeral Requests SOP (rev 3.1.26)

For: Members & Regular Attenders (those who give, serve, or are in a home group)

Overall Approach:
The Executive Assistant will be the ‘Extreme Ownership’ Leader of all funerals to ensure their smooth operations. This is an “all hands on deck” situation.

Pastoral Assignment: The Lead Pastor will determine whether they will officiate the funeral or assign another NSC pastor.

  • Scheduling: The funeral will be placed on the calendar and the family will be notified.
  • Service Planning: We will have a meeting with the family to go over the General Funeral Order of Service with more personalization as per the family. 
  • The family will confirm final details via email as per meeting.
  • Staff & Volunteers: NSC staff and volunteers will be deployed for all logistics—setup, serving, greeting, and cleanup. 

For: Non‑Members, Non‑Regular Attenders, Non‑Believers, or Anyone Not Giving/Serving or in a Home Group

These situations are valuable ministry opportunities.

  • Initial Step: Gather as much information as possible about the family’s needs and expectations.
  • Meet with them and provide them the  General Funeral Order of Service
  • The family will confirm final details via email as per meeting.
  • If They Only Need a Pastor: We will deploy an available pastor to serve them.
  • If They Need Both a Pastor and the Building: They will be given the rental application form and follow the facility‑use process.
  • If No NSC Pastor Is Available: We will do our best to deploy a qualified lay leader, such as a CLO.
