Five Core Safety Commitments at New Song Church
We believe God desires safety, dignity, and protection for every person. As a church, we take shared responsibility for creating an environment where harm cannot hide and where every individual—especially children and vulnerable people—is safeguarded.
1. We Cultivate a God‑Honoring Culture of Safety
Safety is part of discipleship. We honor God by protecting one another, practicing wisdom, and upholding the value of every person made in His image.
2. We Hold Ourselves and One Another Accountable
No one is above accountability. We maintain healthy leadership practices, avoid secrecy, prevent power imbalances, and ensure policies cannot be shaped to avoid oversight.
3. We Protect Children and Vulnerable People Through Clear Boundaries
We follow simple, consistent safeguards at all times:
- No child alone with one adult in an isolated space
- Only parents/guardians assist children in restrooms
- All touch must be welcomed and appropriate
- Words must show respect and never shame, belittle, or sexualize
-
Extra visibility and accountability when power differences or dual roles exist
4. We Take Immediate Action When Something Seems Concerning
Every adult & child is empowered to speak up when they see:
- Potential abuse
- A policy or boundary violation
- A concerning person or situation
If you see or experience anything concerning, report it immediately to a staff member, pastor or elder and then follow up with them.
If a child or vulnerable adult is in danger, contact local authorities immediately.
5. We Work as a Team to Prevent and Respond to Harm
Safety is a shared ministry. We educate our whole church community.
We maintain clear reporting pathways. _____________________________________________________
