General Description
The Strategic Ministry Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to establish best practices in all areas of ministry at New Song Church. This position will help New Song Church create ministry teams that are “excellent and efficient” through evaluation, study, reporting and coaching ministry leaders and/or staff. This position will ensure we are excellent in all areas of ministry and help the church continually improve by 1%.
Essential Job Functions
- Work closely with the Executive Pastor to identify the current area of ministry to work on, evaluate and to understand current state of the ministry (its leaders, history, potential areas of improvement).
- Create an evaluation plan and bring this to the Executive Pastor for approval and execution.
- Execute the evaluation plan through observation, interview of leadership and volunteers, ensure Helo-2/Eph 4/COACH is happening; review current job descriptions, understanding current organizational structure, how often are volunteers working, read/study this specific area of ministry to learn best practices, etc.). Basically, assess the health of the current ministry (and its leaders/volunteers) and have a basic understanding of what health/excellence would look like.
- Create a report of findings that include where excellence is happening, as well as potential areas of improvement (training needs, assimilation/structure, leadership, giftings of current volunteers, morale, communication needs, care, books/podcasts/resources for leaders to study, etc.).
- Share report via meeting with Executive Pastor with what was found and recommendations of improvement in ministry.
- Be part of potential meetings with XP and staff ministry leader to go over report and potential action plan.
- Be available as a resource for XP/staff when it comes to execution of action plan.
- Be a resource for XP on the “business side” of church (leadership; HR; business; finance; insurance; strategy and execution; employee management).
This position will be supported by the Executive Pastor.
